Nemar Jhan, Lord Warden of the Assembly of Five had agreed to a marriage alliance with the kingdom of Sewen. Unfortunately his future bride Teren Kelfin had not–Nemar Jhan being not of the faith and a Necromancer. (A legendary Necromancer-King with a terrifying reputation in Sewen and the other Dosai kingdoms. The alliance is…controversial.)
Teren and her twin brother Caris exchange places, to cover her escape. Disguised as his sister, he attempts to assassinate the Lord Warden on their “wedding night.” This goes badly for the following reasons:
1) Nemar Jhan is an immortal and cannot be killed. (Permanently)
2) You might have pulled one over on him in an unguarded moment but he’s still more experienced than you. (By about a thousand or so years.)
3) He still intends to honor the terms and conditions of the marriage alliance. (Apparently as far as he’s concerned, they just need to iron out if he’s married to Caris, or Teren by proxy.)
As a result the royal twins’ attempt at a major diplomatic incident does not go according to plan. (In any way, shape or form.)
