So currently chapter thirteen of Lord of the Black Mountain is up on Patreon. It should show up September 22 on Royal Road. I have a backlog of three chapters, but I am slightly stuck, so nothing else has been written. This means I have been working on Meta posts, for the most part. (None are ready to be posted.)
I have decided to quit using Evernote. This is due to Evernote screwing up notes so whole sections are missing or the entire note has disappeared. (Also, my budget is nonexistent) Their “free version” is absolutely awful/pretty much nonfunctional, so I opted to get rid of it entirely. I am transferring everything to my portable drive and also Google. (Google has also eaten documents, but it hasn’t happened since, So I think I’m safeish)
This is another reason why I’m working on transferring/backing up posts from my blog.
It is Housing Recertification Time again, and as usual I’m extremely tense about it. Forms have been filled out, documents have been sent, unit has been inspected. (And Approved.) Still, I am stressed about it. I always have a fear that some support organization or system will go “nope, we can’t help you, because of reasons.” I know exactly where I got this feel, but I won’t go into it (at this time). I have also not yet heard from Social Security, which also needs an update.
I have some vague ideas for meta/writing process/story posts. They will probably be cross-posted to patreon. Maybe. I am not always great at follow up when I get an idea.
I have decided to try for the gig job life (in this case walking dogs/doing pet and house sitting/check ins.) This is mostly because when my sister was between jobs, she did dog walking/pet sitting via a company called Rover. I am like, only halfway signed up due to not being able to complete the background check. (They charge you for the background check, and I currently have no money.)
My electronic bike Green Machine has ten bajillion thorns in the tires. I can still ride it! This is because the inner tubes are thorn resistant and I am not stupid enough to take out the thorns because then the tires would deflate. (Same principle as not yoinking an arrow out of someone’s chest right then and there, you’re just going to make a bigger mess.)
I’m currently working on a) re-naming some blog posts. b) making a series following the theme of one of the posts (arguments about books c) planning on advertising some of my older posts/reviews on bluesky and mastodon. We’ll see if I can get around to any of that. I mostly want more readers, and more money from the Patreon. (So I am not broke at the end of the month)
