Update: Absolutely Nothing to See Here

I accidentally posted the book review I did for Those Beyond the Wall by Micaiah Johnson. I meant to schedule it, and it will be turning up again some time in February, which is when I meant to schedule it. It’s a good book, and I’m excited when it officially comes out because I have Thoughts about the themes and I have at least one meta post idea for it, but I am not quite THAT excited about it, as the book won’t be out ’til March 2024.

I am still poking away at Lord of the Black Mountain (I finished chapter eleven and am 1000+ words into chapter twelve. my chapter lengths are usually in the 2000-3000 range. I won’t actually be scheduling/posting until I have chapter thirteen completed.) I’ve managed to somewhat navigate my way past the initial writing block I had. (chapter twelve is a “bridge” chapter between arcs.)

I have some plans to write for Nanowrimo. The project is called Hana’s Demon and it’s a portal fantasy. This will not be an official “logged into the website” attempt. I may or may not have the same problems I usually do when writing original fiction and/or trying to write toward a deadline, but I *really* like this idea, and it’s one I’ve had for a while now. I am hoping to get some more worldbuilding done and I will probably be blathering about it. I also have plans of posting excerpts to Patreon.

(The usual problem with writing deadlines is Anxiety Brain. Anxiety Brain gets so stressed about the deadline I can’t actually do any writing because my head is full of static and worry. Other problems include “something has come up that I need to attend to,” “I screwed up financially so time to panic!” and “help I have Annual Lung Crud and I feel like I’m dying.”)

In other news, I am making some progress with my current round of therapy. (I’ve been having some stress and needed to work on my coping skills.) I am attempting to Have Actual Conversations Out Loud to People which is something that’s generally hard for me. (Poor social skills, a verbal tic and no ability to “read” social cues has generally made me unable to communicate/talk. It is extremely stressful especially when I have instances of “suddenly I don’t understand words and the nearest possible ones don’t make sense in context.” (I will probably expand on this topic at some point.)
